T. Henry Hvattum

T. Henry Hvattum, 89, of 4 3rd St. NW, died Monday (August 23, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. James M. Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church Thursday one hour before the service. An Elks Lodge service will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Senior Citizens Center. Henry was born September 17, 1914 in Osage, Iowa the son of Thomas H. and Randi (Lee) Hvattum. He graduated from Osage High School and Hamilton School of Business. Henry married Katherine M. Wilmot August 21, 1935 in Charles City. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. The Hvattum?s moved to Mason City in 1943. Henry was the Distribution Manager for GAF Photo for 33 years. He retired in 1976. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge #375, where he was past Exalted Ruler in 1964. He was also past president of Toastmaster?s and the Exchange Club. Henry is survived by his wife, Katherine M. Hvattum of Mason City; daughter, Randi Christensen and husband G.Wayne of Floyds Knobs, IN; 5 grandchildren, Dori Ashburn and husband Scott of Mason City, Mike Warner of Mason City, Lisa Holifield and husband Don of Birmingham, AL, Brian Christensen of Floyds Knobs, IN, Janelle Sumner and husband Brian of Louisville, KY; 2 great grandchildren, Hannah and Abigail. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Linda Warner; infant son, Thomas; 2 sisters, Ruth and Helga.
