She graduated from Manly High School in 1958 and worked a variety of jobs. For many years Sharon stayed home to raise her children. When she reentered the work force, she was a school cook in Rockwell, and worked at Unisys and Mode-o-Day. Always a whiz with numbers, Sharon found her calling as a bookkeeper for Jim Hansen Ford and various other car dealerships. Even though she often tried to retire, she continued working part time until she was diagnosed with cancer in March 2013. On June 2, 1962 Sharon was united in marriage to the love of her life, Darold 'Dewey' Haag. Sharon and Dewey had two children. They raised Dean and Sheryl in Rockwell and later moved to Mason City. Throughout the years many who were blessed to experience her love and caring have called Sharon 'Mom'. From the teenagers who received advice around the kitchen table to her bowling team, she was deeply respected and loved for both her caring ways and her sassy attitude. Never afraid to speak her mind, everyone knew where they stood with Sharon. She was remarkably talented and could create amazing things from a little cloth or some yarn. She blessed many babies with a soft afghan and was very proud of the quilts she made for her family. Sharon's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She could always be found on a bleacher or in the outfield to cheer them on. Sharon was an avid reader and loved to fish. She didn't like anyone to out fish her and could be known to steal a fishing spot if someone was catching more or bigger fish than she was. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 51 years: Dewey Haag, son: Dean (Kyla) Haag of Northome, Minnesota, daughter: Sheryl (Jon) Mariner of Mason City. Grandson: Joseph Mariner of Helena, Montana, and granddaughter Kristin (Matt) Engels of Rockwell. 3 sisters: Mary (Frank) Staley of Dayton, Ohio, Sister Margeruite Yezek of Dubuque, Iowa, and Florence Brown of Memphis, Tennessee; brother: Ron (Charlotte) Yezek of Manly and many nieces and nephews. Her cat, Scamper, who provided many hours of comfort during her battle with cancer, also survives her. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
