Sandra Joy Pope was born September 4, 1954 in Mason City, the daughter of Wayne and June (Gallagher) Pope. She attended Mason City Schools, graduating in 1973. She was married to Victor Peck on September 1, 1979, in Clear Lake, IA at the Open Bible Church. In her earlier years she worked for St. Clair-Starks Clothing Store and Massey Fergueson until working for Mercy Hospital for the last twenty-five years. Sandy enjoyed gardening, watching birds and making blankets for family members and others. She was a long-time member of the Open Bible Church in Clear Lake, where she enjoyed attending worship and rarely missed. She loved being a part of the church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Sandy was a strong believer in giving back and liked to give to mission projects and people who were less fortunate. Sandy had a great sense of humor when with family and close friends. At family gatherings she would spend hours talking, laughing and reminiscing. She especially looked forward to the annual overnight shopping trips with her mother, sisters and nieces. Sandy loved babies and small children and always had several presents for them when they came to visit. She was a dedicated worker who found it difficult to take her allotted vacation and P.T.O. time off because she felt like she was needed in the office. Sandy loved camping and enjoyed trying out area campgrounds with a group of family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Victor Peck of Mason City, son-in-law, Lee Hefty of Corwith, IA; parents, Wayne and June Pope of Mason City; sister, Lori Wisner and husband Terry of Mason City; brother-in-laws, Mike and Tom Peck of Mason City and Melvin McElwee and wife Jeanie of Armstrong, IA; mother-in-law, Ruth Peck of Mason City; nieces and nephews, Amanda and Joel Wisner; Erin Bentley and husband Bart, Wesley McElwee and wife Missy, Leah Francke and husband Mark; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
