Ruth Margaret Hill

URBANA, IL: Ruth Margaret Hill, 94 of Urbana, IL, formerly of Mason City, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. Jim Stiles of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Ruth M. Hill memorial fund in care of the family.
She married Charles James Hill on Nov. 15, 1941 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mason City before settling in Spencer, Iowa in 1948. Mr. Hill was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad for over 35 years and Mrs. Hill was a homemaker. They raised two children (James and Linda) in Spencer. Upon Mr. Hills retirement in 1975, the couple enjoyed traveling for several years.
Mrs. Hill enjoyed baking, crafts, listening to music and spending time with her family. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer for a number of years. When Mr. Hill passed away in 2000, Mrs. Hill moved to Illinois to be nearer to her children. She lived in Prairie Village, a retirement community in Rantoul and most recently at Heartland Nursing Home in Paxton.
She is survived by a son, James Hill of Richmond, Illinois; a daughter, Linda Conway of Urbana, Illinois; one grandson, Charles Conway of Champaign, Illinois; 2 brothers-in-law, Byron Hill and his wife Georgiana of Mason City, and Gordon Hill of Tucson, Arizona; 2 sisters-in-law, Lois Ellett of Sanborn, Iowa and Frances Nutton and her husband Jack of Mason city; and 8 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, a brother, and 1 nephew.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to the Ruth M. Hill memorial fund in care of the family.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
