MASON CITY ? Ruth Lorrayne DeSart, 94 of Mason City died Friday, March 25, 2005 at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 1, 2005 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5 ? 7 PM on Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmwood ? St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Ruth L. DeSart Memorial Fund. The proceeds of this fund will be used for a stained glass window at the church. Ruth was born January 18, 1911 in Rockford. She was the daughter of Hal and Nellie (Blake) Jones. She attended school in Rockford and graduated from Rockford High School in 1928. Following graduation Ruth moved to Mason City and graduated from Hamilton Business School. She was united in marriage to Francis C. DeSart on September 1, 1933 in Rockford. Ruth worked as a secretary for the North Iowa Fair Association for many years and retired in 1972. Ruth was a sixty plus year member of First United Methodist Church and a 58-year member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter IW in Mason City. Ruth enjoyed many things, most of all family. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren. Ruth loved her home and one could always find her cleaning or working on her yard. She had the most beautiful peonies and enjoyed sharing them with her neighbors. She loved her neighborhood and loved watching the children play and grow. She also enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and playing the piano. ?Ruthie?s Peanut Brittle? was well known, as it was the ?best peanut brittle in Mason City.? Ruth is survived by her daughters, Nancy Delahoussaye of Kingwood, Texas, Susan Borcherding and husband Glenn of Mason City, two brothers, Donald Jones and wife Virginia of Rockford, Robert Jones and wife Lucille of Indiolantic, Florida; grandchildren, Janet Delahoussaye of Santa Monica, California, Joey Delahoussaye and wife Caron of Kingwood, Texas, Scott Greeves of Tempe, Arizona, Leah Greeves of Tucson, Arizona; and one great granddaughter, Abbigail Delahoussaye of Kingwood, Texas. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Nellie Jones, her husband Francis, one daughter in infancy, Patricia DeSart, and one brother, Lloyd Jones. Ruth was greatly admired and loved by her family and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten.
