Ruth Ann Scholl was born January 28, 1930 in rural Mason City, IA the daughter of Wayne and Ruth (Wharam) Coe. She grew up in the rural Mason City area. After graduating high school, she attended Mason City Junior College and became a teacher. She taught school in Milford and Swaledale, IA until starting a family in 1954. On May 27, 1953 she was united in marriage to Henry F. Scholl in Colorado Springs, CO. In 1957 they built a new home in Mason City where Ruth has lived there ever since. The couple was blessed with four children, Kevin, Tim, Cindy and the youngest Susan who passed away in 2004. Ruths husband died in a construction accident on September 14, 1961. Being left with the burden of raising four small children and a mountain of bills to pay, she didnt let that get her down. Being the hardworking, strong and determined woman she was, she took many different jobs through the years to support her family all on her own, which was very difficult for a single mother in that day and age. None of her family ever went without and she still had a heart of Gold. In 1970 she began to work at Deckers Packing Plant until her retirement in 1984. Being the devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend she was, her children, her friends and anyone who knew her, loved and respected her deeply. Everyone was welcome in the Scholl household and many kids often called her mom, and some still do to this day. Her smile would warm the room and your heart too. She loved to cook and always had something going on in the kitchen. She really loved cooking for someone and for family holidays, many of her recipes will be missed. Ruth also loved to play cards and was always ready for a game. She also loved to play bingo, she never won much, but loved to play anyways. The world lost an amazing woman on Tuesday, but heaven gained a perfect angel.
Ruths memory will live on in the hearts of her surviving family, Cindy and husband Larry Roberts, Kevin Scholl and Tim Scholl all of Mason City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Dwayne Coe of Mason City, Jim Coe of Parkers Prairie, MN, Elda Theilen of Rockford, IA; sister-in-law, Mrytle Coe and Margaret Coe both of Mason City; numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Susan Scholl in 2004; parents; brothers, Keith Coe, Dick Coe, and Ellis Coe.
