Russell Korte

Russell Korte, 63, of Plymouth, IA, went to be with the Lord after an extended illness on Monday, October 14, 2013, at his home. Private graveside services will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Russell Korte memorial fund. Russell was born on May 14, 1950, in Waterloo, IA, the son of LuVern and Ruth (Kirchoff) Korte. He graduated from Waterloo East High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Russell continued his education at NIACC (Mason City), the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA) and the Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, MN) before receiving his Masters Degree in Health Science. He worked for the Iowa DNR for 8 years and Opportunity Village for 15 years before his retirement in 1997. Russell had a great appreciation for nature and liked hiking, exploring the walking trails, and picnics in the park. He was an active person who enjoyed skiing and biking (Touring Club). He also enjoyed writing poetry and fishing. Russell loved to read the Bible, the Word of the Lord and learning about history of the church. Russell was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
