Roy D. Myers, 72, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, September 25, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Per his wishes, his body was cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Roy David Myers was born June 22, 1943, in rural Mitchell County, IA, the son of Harvey and Nellie (Nichols) Myers. He grew up in Clear Lake and attended Clear Lake High School before moving to Mason City, where he had his son, Steve, from his first marriage. Roy had several jobs before working at Curries for 32 years until his retirement in 1997. He was a handyman with everything and considered a jack of all trades. Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, auto racing with his son, and riding around town on his scooter with his brother Ray. There isn’t a street in Mason City they hadn’t been down on their scooters. Roy was very popular around town and will be greatly missed by the many people that knew and loved him.

Roy is survived by his significant other: Sherry Bohnsack of Mason City; son: Steve (Julie Riker) Myers of Mason City; 2 step children: Scott Bohnsack of Mason City and Shannon (Rusty) Foster of Mason City; 2 grandchildren: Amber (Kyle Huebner) Myers of Mason City and Jessica Myers of Mason City; 4 step grandchildren: Steffen Foster, Bryce Foster, Serena Foster, and Kyle Riker, all of Mason City; 2 great grandchildren: Carter and Aubrey Huebner of Mason City; a brother: Ray (Marlys O’Brien) Myers of Mason City; 3 sisters: Roseanne Hinderacker of Clear Lake, Violet (Merle) Hultman of Oakland, NE, Iris Deckard of Clear Lake; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 3 stillborn children; his parents; 3 brothers: Harvey, Oscar, and Art Myers; and a daughter-in-law: Cheryl Myers.
