Roderick Lemeual Demetrius Lewis, 18, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Victoria Clark of New Foundation Christian Fellowship Church in Phoenix, AZ officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. A balloon release will take place following the memorial service. The family requests casual attire “come as you are”. Memorials may be directed to the Roderick Lewis memorial fund in care of the family.

Roderick was born November 25, 1998, in Chicago, IL, the son of William Roderick Lewis and Tenil Precious Hobbs. He attended Mason City High School. Roderick was very athletic and enjoyed wrestling, football, track and lifting weights. He was an excellent cook, superb dancer, wise beyond his years, funny and had a smile that would melt your heart. While in Chicago, Roderick and his brother co-founded the group “Nerd Herd” for students with good grades. Some may be surprised to know but his passion was Japanese anime.

Roderick is survived by his mother: Tenil Precious Hobbs of Mason City; his father: William Roderick Lewis of Britt, IA; his 2nd mother: MaDonna Williams of Mason City, IA; grandparents: Claudine Johnson of Phoenix and Susan Hobbs of Chicago; siblings: Isaiah Lewis, Lalani Sherman, Ismiel Lewis, Malachi Lewis, Prince Andrew Hobbs, Heaven Mahogany Griffin, Shayla Loften and Mariah Wiley; aunts and uncles: Victoria Clark, Lemeual Hobbs, Reba Bell Hobbs, Lloyd Hobbs, Suporia Anthony and husband Mac, Masala Jackson, Tahannie Williams, Tianna Griffin, Lawanda Brooks and Michelle Lewis; great aunts and uncle: Renata Johnson, Mercy Morgantied and Robert Clark.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Billy James Lewis; brother: Gabriel Demetrius Davis; and cousin: Timothy B. Jenkins Jr.
