Bob 'Bobby' Allen, 69, passed away Friday October 17th while on his annual fall fishing trip at his cabin in Minnesota. He spent his final days at his favorite place, and was surrounded by his best friends. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church, 125 East State Street, Mason City, Iowa with Reverend Ron Stein officiating on Friday, October 24th at 10:30 with the visitation at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, on Thursday, October 23 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials can be directed to the Robert Allen Memorial Fund. Bob was born March 10, 1945 in Mason City, IA. He was the son of Carma and Dan Allen. He graduated from Mason City School in 1963. He worked at the Pancake Inn for 10 years where he met his future wife. His talent and enjoyment of working in the kitchen continued throughout his life. On February 26, 1973 he joined the Mason City Fire Department. He loved his job as a firefighter, and retired June 27, 2008. After he retired he began working for Community Motors. He enjoyed driving cars, especially when he drove with his driving Buddy, Marv Karsjens. Bob married Judy Phillips at the First Baptist Church on July 21, 1968. Their lives were blessed with a son, Jeremy and a daughter, Amy. Bob was an active member of First Baptist Church where he had many friends. He is survived by his wife, Judy, his son Jeremy Allen (Stephanie) and his daughter Amy Bothwell (Carl). He is also survived by his grandchildren Caleigh, Camren, Jaxon, Sophia and Jase; who were the central interest and joy of his life. Survivors also include his sister Cheryl Allen, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and his friend Marcus Nelson. Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carma and Dan; his mother and father-in-law Lucille and Milton Phillips, and his brother and sister-in-law David and Audrey Allen.
