ELDORA, IOWA: Robert C. Lepird, 81, of Eldora, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City with Pastor Kathy Graves, Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no visitation. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Memorials may be directed to the Robert Lepird Memorial Fund, 914 14th Street, Eldora, Iowa 50627. Robert was born August 23, 1932 in Albert Lea, Minnesota the son of Willis and Cora (Spangelo) Lepird. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the US Army. Robert attended Waldorf College in Forest City and later graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. In January of 1957, Robert began working for the Des Moines Register in Marshalltown. He worked for the Register until 1975. He then went to work for Ken Wise Auto Group in Marshalltown working there until 1994. Robert was an active member of the Marshalltown community involved in the Optimist Club, VFW, American Legion, Elks and the Marshalltown Little League. A few of his interests included watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins and Vikings and spending time at the lake with his family. Robert’s favorite color was red and the family requests those attending his graveside service wear red. Robert is survived by his children, Marsha Lepird of Eldora, Tim (RaeJean) Lepird of Carroll, and Kim Ward of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Melissa Fontanini, McKenzie Ward, Jeremiah Lepird, Erin Lepird Rush, Joshua Lepird, and Jordyn Lepird; great grandchildren, Emma Marie Volbrecht, Ethan Floyd Fontanini, Savannah Fontanini, and Max Earsa; brother, Richard (Janet Hoppe) Lepird of Estherville; cousin, Terry (Jo) Growcock of Tampa, Florida; many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister, Karen.
