Mason City Rita Margot Johnson, 90, of Mason City, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 6, 2010, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Ed Bard, Chaplain of Hospice North Iowa, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Humane Society of North Iowa.Rita was born October 15, 1920, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Leo and Claire (Pietrakofski) Franklyn. Her family moved to London, England in 1932 where she attended Parliament Hill High School and later attended City of London College for two years. She was married to Johnny Johnson in 1946. Together they lived in Lake Mills, IA and adopted a daughter, Kimberley in 1952. She worked and lived in Lake Mills until 1972 when she moved to Mason City and started her own business, Ritas Gifts & Flowers. It was the love and joy of her life. She married Lee Johnson on December 14, 1974 in Mason City. Rita was a strong-willed, outgoing person that was full of love and kindness for others. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her. Rita survived by her daughter, Kimberley Wilson; five stepchildren, Theron, Edie, Edward, Mike, and Frank; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Johnny and Lee; stepdaughter, Susan.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Humane Society of North Iowa.

Visitation:
Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
