MASON CITY: Richard W. Lambert, 77, of Mason City, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 1311 2nd Street SW, with Rev. Joseph Mirowski officiating. Additional services will be held at St. Lukes Greek Orthodox Church, East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Interment will be in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, Massachusetts. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Richard W. Lambert Memorial Fund. Richard was born as a twin March 4, 1932 in Holyoke, Massachusetts the son of Leon and Elizabeth (Snow) Lambert. He attended Sacred Heart High School in Holyoke. Richard served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He married Adrian Pappas February 5, 1954 in Holyoke. Richard worked as a supervisor for Bay State Gas Company for over 30 years in Springfield, MA. Richard and Adrian then relocated to Texas to be near their daughter and her family. They moved to Mason City in 1990. Richard worked for North Iowa Medical Center as supervisor of Environmental Services. He then worked as a Pharmacy courier for Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Following his retirement in 2004, he volunteered at the Mercy Cancer Center. Richard was a member of the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church and AHEPA. He enjoyed reading, landscaping and especially gardening.

Richard is survived by his wife, Adrian of Mason City; daughter, Athena Tina (Michael) Belz of Mason City; grandchildren, Matthew and Abbe Belz of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Marie Armanious of Springfield, MA; nieces and nephews, Leslie Morris of Harwich, MA, Michelle (Raymond) Pidgeon of Springfield, MA, Mark (Debra) Casagrande of San Francisco, CA and Robert (Jill) Lambert of Henniker, NH.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Robert.
