René A. Rozen

August 6, 1950 — October 19, 2015

Rene’ A. Rozen, 65 of Casselberry, FL, and formerly of Mason City, IA, died Monday, October 19th, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2015, at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. A celebration with family and friends to follow at the Prime and Wine. Memorials may be directed to the Rene’ A. Rozen memorial fund in care of the family.

Rene’ was born on August 6, 1950 in Mason City, IA, to James Keith and Madonna Margaret (Brose) Rozen. Rene’ was the first of six children. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1968, received her BS in English in 1971 from Iowa State University and completed her MA in Education from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. She worked as an insurance adjustor, which took her from the Mason City area to Chicago, IL, and on to the Orlando area. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.

She was the oldest and truly the wisest in the family; her love for travel, music, and friendship stood out above all else. She yearned for love and acceptance from everyone she encountered, including the animals she’d shelter when no one else would. She was compassionate, and saw the best in everyone around her. She was bold, witty, and strong in a way that kept her pushing forward when it otherwise seemed impossible.

Rene’ is survived by her sisters, Connie Carlberg of Seagrove Beach, FL; Elizabeth (Barry) Michaels of Omaha, NE; Margaret Rozen (Jim Klein) of Portland, OR; nieces, Danielle Michaels, Sara Rozen and Neva Klein; nephews, David and Sam Rozen and Sayer Klein; and many cousins and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Keith and Madonna; brothers, Sam and John.

Her friends say she was true, loyal and generous. “When you were with Rene’, life was full and life was fun!” If she had written a book about her life, it would have been titled, “Passing for Normal.” She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Ob-la-di Ob-la-da                     Life goes on.
