Raymond O. Overbeck

Raymond O. Overbeck, 75, of Mason City, died Monday (October 11, 2004) at home. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and continue Thursday before the service. Memorials may be given to the Raymond Overbeck Memorial Fund. Ray was born August 6, 1929 in Mason City the son of Oscar and Keren (Melcher) Overbeck. He married Janith Leonard April 4, 1953 in Mason City. Ray served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Northwestern States Portland Cement Company for many years, retiring in 1974 due to his health. Ray was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cards, gardening and being with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and the neighborhood kids. Ray is survived by his wife, Janith of Mason City; daughter, Kathy Tyler and husband Ken of Mason City; sons, Phil Overbeck of Webster City, Russell Overbeck and wife Jennifer of Mason City; grandchildren, Brad, Michelle, James, Heather, Adam, Joshua, Aaron and Kyle; great grandchildren, Brandon, Michael, Dylan, Madalynn, Kain, Sirena, Erik and Ivey. Ray?s parents; brothers, Clifford and Andrew; sister, Mildred Thorpe and grandson, Christopher preceded him in death.
