Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Mason City Rama L. DeWitt, age 83, of Mason City, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 6:00 PM on Monday, December 7, 2009, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania.
Memorials may be directed to the Rama DeWitt memorial fund in care of the family. Rama was born on November 8, 1926, in rural Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Arthur and Erma (Loyd) True. Rama moved to Mason City at an early age and attended school in Mason City. She married Hubert Moretz on July 10, 1946 in Pipestone, MN and later married Francis DeWitt on November 1, 1952 in Albert Lea, MN. Rama worked for Ben Franklin and Wal-Mart before retiring in 1992. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Church Circle. Rama enjoyed spending time with her family, walking, reading, traveling and eating ice cream.
Rama is survived by her children: Sherry Despenas of Roseville, MN, Les Weitzel and fiance Billie Kellogg of Mason City, Kim DeWitt and wife Theresa of Mason City, Cheryl Allen of Santa Rosa, CA, Donald DeWitt and wife Patricia of Mason City; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her siblings: Genevive Weitzel of Mason City, Mary Johnson and husband Floyd of Mason City, Pat Bickley of Mason City, Gordy True and wife Karen of Mason City, Larry True and Sharron Holtz of Phoenix, AZ, Sandy Weaver of Mason City. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Hubert Moretz in 1950 and her second husband: Francis DeWitt in 2005, her parents: Arthur and Erma True; her children: Terry Smith, Darrel DeWitt and Dennis DeWitt; two brothers: Don and Eldon True.
