Phillip M. Austin, 86, of 1037 19th St. SW formerly of 342 Lakeview Drive, died Monday (November 1, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Jim Stiles and Rev. Jo Frahm-Watkins officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Phillip M. Austin Memorial Fund. Phillip was born July 15, 1918 in Plymouth, Connecticut the son of Ellsworth and Mae (Adams) Austin. He graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Tri State University, Angola, Indiana in 1942. Phillip married Dorothy B. Boisen August 8, 1943 in Cedar Rapids. He worked for John Deere Tractor Works and Schukei Chevrolet in Waterloo for a short time. The Austin?s moved to Mason City in 1977. Phillip then worked as a furniture manufacture sales representative for 34 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, United Commercial Travelers, and the Mason City Country Club. Phillip was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting and his yearly fishing trips to Canada. Phillip is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Austin of Mason City; son, Charles A. Austin and wife Pamela of Denver, IA; daughter, JoAnn Borglum and husband Michael of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Brooks, Kyle and Jennifer Borglum Phillip?s parents and brother, Donald preceded him in death.
