Peggy A. Curran, 60, of 403 S. Hooker Avenue, died Saturday (June 26, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 9:00 AM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Thomas Healey, chaplain, Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Private family inurnment services will take place at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa. Peggy was born on Friday the 13th, August 1943 in Hampton, Iowa the daughter of Lowell and Eva (Deshler) Moore. They resided in Marble Rock then moved to Rockford. Peg graduated from Rockford High School in 1961. She married Richard Uker in December of 1961. To this union three sons were born. They lived in Chicago from 1961-62, Bad Kreuzach, Germany from 1962-63 then returning to reside in Rockford. They would later move to an acreage 5 miles west of Rockford. They belonged to the Rockford Saddle Club for a number of years where Peg served as secretary/treasurer. Peg loved being around animals and wild life. She worked many jobs in her lifetime. She was past president, secretary/bookkeeper for Standard Brands of Chicago, clerk of Rockford Building Center, cook and waitress for Elm?s Café, which was owned by her parents, egg candler, caser and chicken deboner for Trettin Hatchery, collected corn samples from hopper cars for USDA, meat cutter and wrapper for the Rockford Locker, cooked at JoJo?s Café, Hy-Vee, attended LaJames and was a licensed cosmetologist at Glemby?s Salon in Mason City. Peg clerked at Hallmark, was secretary/office manager at State Farm Insurance in Nora Springs and was recently a scale person/bookkeeper with Cemstone Products working out of both Lehigh and Holcim Quarry?s. She loved this job and was looking forward to seeing all her friends again and working with Bill. Peg attended NIACC and received her Emergency Medical Technician certificate. She was a volunteer for the Nora Springs ambulance service. Peg married Alan Curran in 1983 in Bigfork, MN. They resided in Nora Springs. They purchased 40 acres in Northern Minnesota where Peg loved to fish for pan fish. In fact, she loved being out in the boat even if the fish weren?t cooperating. She also loved three-wheeling on the trails. Peg liked oil and acrylic painting, was an avid reader and loved being outdoors with her flowers and lawnmower. Peggy is survived by her husband, Alan Curran of Nora Springs; sons, Ryan Uker and wife Charlet of Rockford, Roger Uker and wife Michelle of Rockford, Shawn Uker and wife Jackie of Nora Springs; step-daughters, Toni Olson and husband John of Charles City, Tami Wirth and husband Jeff of Hutchinson, MN, Tara Guza and husband Jim of Hutchinson, MN; grandchildren, Shane Uker, Jolie Olson, Chelcie and Caylor Teepe, Joseph and Christian Uker, Dillon and Jessica Wirth, Mikaela, Justin and Madison Guza; sister, Joan Shawley and her children, Troy, Lisa, Angie and Paul; Peg?s dog, Dakota; special friends, Jean Cogar, Donna and Fred Julien, Bill and Viv Schnaar, Dennis and Pam Sanders, John and Tam Glaser, Amanda and Meagan, Bill and Cheryl Bass, Jerry and Judy Darwin, Shirley and Duane Greenzweig and Donna Lunsford. Peggy?s parents, sister, Donna Iverson, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins preceded her in death.
