Paula Bartels, 53, of Mason City, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday (June 5, 2007) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Rev. Jim Magelssen officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the Paula Bartels Memorial Fund. Paula was born January 26, 1954 in Mason City the daughter of Earl W. and Elaine (Morris) Bohen. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1972. Paula enjoyed gardening, coaching softball, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. Family was very important to her. Paula also had a love for animals. She had many lifelong friends she enjoyed spending time with. Paula is survived by her children, Nathan Bartels of Mason City, and Meghan McLaughlin and husband Chris of Dougherty, IA, two grandchildren: Macey and Trey Pfeffer, and two sisters: Linda Wellman of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Kathern Ramos of Eugene, OR, two nephews: Kyle and Aaron Wellman and two nieces: Sasha Cheyenne Ramey and Haven Wellman. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew: Orian Wellman.
