Paul J. Harrington, 78 of Mason City, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams with the Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating.  Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.  Memorials may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Church or Hospice of North Iowa.
 
Paul was born on September 17, 1929 in Waverly, Iowa the son of Edward F. and Emma K. (Albers) Harrington.  Paul moved to Mason City at an early age, graduated from Mason City High School in 1948.  On September 28, 1957 he married Shirley A. Pettinger at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.  They lived their entire lives in Mason City.  He enjoyed camping over the years as the children were growing up, he also enjoyed his many trips to Branson, MO in his later years.  He was an avid fisherman and co-owned Dream Catcher Tackle with his son Terry.
 
He is survived by his wife Shirley of 50 years, three children, Terry A. Harrington and wife Karen, Cheryl Blakely and husband Randy, Patricia Held and husband Robb; seven grandchildren, Sara and husband Marvin, April, Toby, Cody, Angelica, Jeremiah, Cassady; and one great grandchild, Maryah.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
