Opal M. Miller, 83, of 302 2nd St. NE, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Tammy Swanson-Draheim, First Covenant Church and Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Opal M. Miller Memorial Fund. Opal was born April 8, 1924 in Britt, Iowa the daughter of Jay and Caroline (Larson) Davis. She moved to Mason City at an early age and attended school here. Opal married Russell A. Miller December 7, 1941 in Princeton, Missouri. She was a long time member of the First Covenant Church where she taught Sunday school, was chairperson of Covenant Women, and served on various church boards. Opal also volunteered at Community Kitchen and Good Shepherd Health Center. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies, fishing and camping. Opal is survived by her daughter, Mona Werstein of Mason City; granddaughters, Laura Werstein of Des Moines and Tina Werstein and special friend C.J. of Blue Springs, Missouri; great grandchildren, Keagan, Brooklyn, Kyra and Asia; brothers, Richard Davis and wife Doris of Mason City and Kenneth Davis and wife Cheryl of Onalaska, Wisconsin; sister Alice Bohnsack and husband Merlyn of Mason City; special friend, Tatianna. Opal is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell and Keylah
