Norman McGovern

d. November 30, 2007

Norman? Chris? McGovern, 57, his last known residence was at 109 19th St SE. in Mason City, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007 at his residence of natural causes. A little memorial service for him will be held at Riverside Friends in Mason City on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 7 pm. This Eastsider was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and was a man of many trades. He was known most for his talent in music and the joy for dancing the night away. His talent of playing the guitar and singing started at a young age, which lead to playing in several small bands and giving lessons to others. Chris was the son of the late Frank ?Tom? McGovern and survived mother Pauline McGovern (Galenbeck). He has been set free and went to a better place in which family and friends can imagine that he is continuing to play the guitar and dancing around with his Father Tom, Sister Melinda, and Brother Greg. He was a devoted, caring and loving father to his one and only daughter, Melissa McGovern-Hesse, 28, married now to Tim, who gave birth to his pride and joys. He spent his last years being with his three grandchildren who are Alexandria Nickole (9), Tobiah Nathaneal (7), and Tim Jr. (2). There wasn?t anything he wouldn?t do for his grandkids and couldn?t stop talking about them to friends and family. He is survived by his two other siblings Dave McGovern, his wife Gail McGovern of Des Moines, Iowa and his youngest sister Joy McGovern residing in Key West, Florida. He will be missed, loved, never forgotten and never far from our hearts.
