Nicholas A. Marzen

August 20, 1985 — November 18, 2008

Nicholas Andrew Marzen, 23, of Dougherty, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota from injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 302 5th Street SE with Rev. Craig Steimel and Rev. Harry Koelker concelebrating the mass. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at St. Josephs Catholic Church. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Citizens Bank, 2601 4th Street SW, Mason City where an educational fund has been established for Peyton and Leila. Nic was born August 20, 1985 in Mason City the son of Mark and Doreen (Moore) Marzen. He graduated from Newman High School and received an AA Degree in Agriculture at Hawkeye Community College. Nic was employed by Hanig Construction and also farmed with his best buddy, his father. Following college, Nic married his best friend and love of his life, Melissa Adams. Together they raised their first child, Peyton, age three. Peyton was the apple of his fathers eye and shares the same energetic and robust love of life. Nic and Melissa continued to expand their family and brought their daughter, little Leila Grace, born November 1, 2008 to join her brother and complete their family. All who know Nic admired his fearless ability to live life as an adventure to be conquered. Nic loved snow and waterskiing. He had friends everywhere and enjoyed playing Texas Holdem with them. His laugh was infectious, and he always had a twinkle in his eye. Nic was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was cherished by his sisters, Jenna and Alanna.

Nics full life will leave a legacy of love to those he left behind. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Melissa of Dougherty; infant daughter, Leila and son, Peyton at home; Father & Mother, Mark and Doreen Marzen of Rockwell; Father-in-law & Mother-in-law, Frank Adams and Dr. Susan Sieh of Mason City; Sisters, Jenna Marzen of Ames and Alanna Marzen of Waterloo; grandparents, Leo & Bernadine Marzen of Dougherty; Joyce Wallace of Mason City and Larry Moore of Rudd; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Nic was preceded in death by a cousin, Ashley Marzen.
