Nellie V. Lunde

MASON CITY Nellie V. Lunde, age 88, of Mason City, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, (June 10, 2009) at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 -4th St. S.E. with the Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating. Inurnment will be held in Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery in rural Osage. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Nellie Lunde memorial fund in care of the family.
Nellie V. Lunde was born October 17, 1920 in Plymouth, Iowa the daughter of S.L. Roy and Adah (Kruse) Seeley. After graduating from Plymouth High School in 1938 she attended Hamilton School of Business College. She worked a short time at 1st National bank and Standard Oil Co. Nellie was married November 29, 1942 to Herbert Lunde in Plymouth. After marriage she moved to the farm where she raised her family and helped Herbert on the farm for fifty years. She was an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed and a member for over forty seven years. After moving to Mason City in 1992 she joined St. James Lutheran Church in 1996.
Nellie loved music in her life. She accompanied the cherub choir for twenty years, choirs, trios, soloists. She was a member of Martha Circle and WELCA. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and took part in social activities and loved to sing and had a wonderful sense of humor. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends at the Shalom II Towers.
She was survived by her sons, Carroll Lunde of Fort Madison, Harlan Lunde and wife Diane of Maribel, WI, Gary Lunde of Mason City, John Lunde and wife Sally of Mason City, and David Lunde of Mason City; five grandchildren, Miles Lunde and wife Jade, Sean Lunde, Aric Lunde, Sonja Lunde and Dawn Lunde; and three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Ariana and Ian Chavez.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert; son, Roger; sister, Alice Tennihill; brothers, Donald and George; and niece, Wanda Seeley.
