Nancy J. Hillman

Nancy J. Hillman, 69, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson, with Pastor Matthew Mutters officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Nancy Hillman memorial fund in care of the family.

Nancy was born February 24, 1946, in Oelwein, IA, the daughter of Ronald and Maxine (Arnold) Dawson. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1964. On September 12, 1964, Nancy married Gary D. Hillman in Oelwein. The couple moved to Mason City in 1973. Nancy worked as Manager for B. Dalton Book Store for 24 years before her retirement in 2006. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren – they were the light of her life. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling, boating and vacationing with her family. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she was very active.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 51 years: Gary D. Hillman of Mason City; 2 daughters: Lori Hubbard and husband Steve of Mason City and Leshia Cummins and husband Troy of Owatonna, MN; 6 grandchildren: Lindsey, Ashlyn and Eryn Hubbard, Whitney, Nick and Sam Cummins; 1 sister: Deanna Dawson and special friend: Virginia Damewood of Mankato, MN; and 1 brother: Tom Dawson and wife Marge of Independence, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
