Myron E. Langhoff

Myron E. Langhoff, 75, formerly of Mason City, died at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, Wis., on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, following a brief battle with cancer. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Jim Magelssen of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Myron was born on Aug. 8, 1935, in Colfax to Foster and Marjorie (Rosenberger) Langhoff. He was a graduate of Mason City High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska for two years. He continued to serve his country in the National Guard for twenty-five years with the 1133 Transportation Company. He saw action during Operation Desert Storm, attaining the rank of sargeant. Myron was married to Dora Ward, who preceded him in death in Jan. 29, 2008, after fifty-one years of marriage. Myron was employed by the City of Mason City with the Sanitation Department and Safety Department. He retired as Safety Director after 33 years of employment. On July 5, 2008, Myron married Cinda K. Wessels of Sheboygan. He was a member of the Mason City VFW Post 733, and the Moose Lodge. Myron worshiped at First Covenant Church in Mason City. Myron enjoyed \"tinkering\" in his garage and took pride in his ability to fix most anything. He enjoyed bowling and sports, closely following the Minnesota Vikings. In addition to his wife, Cinda, and her children, Courtney, Paul and Sarah, Myron is survived by four children, Sharon Langhoff, Shelby Langhoff and David (Pam) Langhoff all of Mason City, and Sharlene (Mike) Deardeuff of Rockwell; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Shirley; a brother William and a sister, Linda Claussen.
