Mildred M. Bauer, 83, of Mason City, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her home. A funeral mass will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams, with Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a scriptural wake service at 6:30 PM followed by a Rosary Service, on Monday (July 18, 2011) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mildred Bauer memorial fund, in care of the family. Mildred was born December 30, 1927, in Forest City, IA, the daughter of Andrew and Alice (Hanson) Chodur. She attended school in Forest City. On June 8, 1946, she married John Bauer at the St. Boniface Church in Garner, IA. Mildred was a homemaker and also worked for Winnebago a few years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Church Guild Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a 55 year member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Wesley, IA. Mildred loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She would spend hours on the phone visiting with her children. Mildred enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, traveling, going to the casino, antiquing, shopping, golfing, sewing, and quilting beautiful family quilts for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed feeding the wildlife in her backyard and watching nature while relaxing on her patio. Mildred was a first class person. She was strong willed and always willing to help others. She had a heart of gold with deep faith. Mildred is survived by her husband of 65 years: John Bauer; 8 children; Pamela Rayhons, Deb Bauer, Renee (Kevin) Hendrickson, Jeff (Nancy) Bauer, Jason Bauer, Jarrett Bauer, Sharon Sherrie Bauer, and Jovian Jo Bauer; her grandchildren: Matt Bauer, Beth (James) Tindell, Jacob (Kate) Mertz, Jason (Dena) Mertz, Adam Mertz, Jason Hendrickson, Kayla Hendrickson, Michelle (Juan) Cangas, Bradley Rayhons, Kevin Rayhons, Crystal Bauer, Weston Bauer, and Nathan Ruppelt; step grandchildren: Sarah (Nick) Ortmeier and Rachel (Jesse) Huston; 10 great grandchildren: Andrea, Karina, Isaac, Rowen, Connor, Ashlee, Gavin, Landon, Cody and Jase; siblings: Delores Norcross, Gerry Hart, Kenneth (Shirley) Chodur, Odella Broome, Irene (Dick) King, in-laws: Bill (Sally) Bauer, Ruth Mary Meyer, Clara Lu Wellik, and Marlene (Tom) Liermann. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: James Chodur, Betty Kaduce, Linda Mayo, Donald Chodur, Ilene Bailey, and Ralph Chodur; in-laws: Bernadette Pfeffer and Ralph (Clara) Bauer; and great granddaughter: Brittany Bauer.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery
