Michael L. Hammervold

Mason City Michael L. Hammervold, age 58, of Mason City, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00PM 6:00 PM on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Michael Hammervold Memorial Fund in care of the family or Mason City Youth Baseball.
Michael was born November 5, 1951 in Mason City, the son of William A. and Marlett C. (Dettman) Hammervold. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1970. Michael married Molly White on July 21, 1973 in Alden, IA. Over the years, Michael worked at Pepsi, Northwestern Mutual, J & M Sports, and most recently, Mason City Schools. He was a past member of the Jaycees, Elks and the Moose Lodge. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, watching his grandchildren play baseball, soccer, & dance, and growing & taking care of his roses. He also enjoyed working and tinkering around in his shed AKA Club Flamingo.
Michael is survived by his wife Molly Hammervold of Mason City; his children: Travis Hammervold and girlfriend Chelsea Wales, both of Mason City, and Trish OHern and husband Troy of Mason City; four grandchildren: Carter, Lauren, Colton, and Chloe; his mother: Marlett Hammervold of Mason City; one nephew: Matthew Dettman of Mountain View, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father: Bill Hammervold; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Max and Nellie White.

Memorials may be directed in care of the Family or Mason City Youth Baseball.

Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery
