Dows ? Merlin George Peyton, 84 of Dows, Iowa died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. His body will be cremated upon his wishes and their will be no services. Condolences may be directed to Judy Dahley, 1033 16th St. N.E., Mason City, Iowa 50401. Merlin was born December 25, 1920, the son of Harry and Mabel (Sarber) Peyton. He attended rural schools in the Clarion area and worked for area farmers. Merlin was united in marriage to Elaine Severson on January 23, 1942 in Trenton, Missouri. He was inducted into the Army and served in WWII from 1942 until he was discharged in 1945. After returning home from the WWII, he lived in Riceville and Chicago before moving his family to Mason City. He was employed by A & M Concrete, A & M Prestress in Clear Lake, and Cerro Gordo County in Clear Lake. Merlin is survived by his three children; Judy and Elon Dahley of Mason City; Carolyn and Mike Evans of Mesa, Arizona, Rick and Sandy Peyton of Houston, Texas; grandchildren; Chris and Bridget Cline of Straud, Oklahoma, Candace and Mike Karsjens of Rockwell, Cathi Donahoo of Mason City, Dr. Shane Evans and Mary of Des Moines, Chad and Tracy Evans of Phoenix, Arizona, Brad Peyton, and Ariel Peyton of Houston, Texas; fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Melvin and Eva Peyton of Hampton; sisters, Doris and Fran Rohrer of Eagle Grove, Lois Hansen of Chino, California, Evelyn and husband Chuck Doherty of Johnston, Iowa, Connie and husband Jim Smith of Cedar Rapids. Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Vivian Kittleson and Maxine Rice.
