Mary Maginnis

Mary S. Maginnis, 83, of Mason City, died Sunday, November 9, 2003 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 P.M. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and for one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mary S. Miller was born August 31, 1920 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the daughter of Oliver and Bessie Mae (Cherry) Miller. She was united in marriage to Jerry Maginnis on June 7, 1941. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1991. Mary graduated from Pontiac High School and the Pontiac Business College, both in Pontiac, Michigan. She was employed by the New Hampshire Superintendents Office, and was the office manager at Mason City High School until her retirement. Throughout her life, Mary did volunteer work for the Girl Scouts, hospitals, churches, and those in need. She enjoyed flowers, birds, bridge, games, golf, working, as well as living in California during the winter months. Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mason City. Mary?s greatest love was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Maureen Boynton and her husband Jan of California, Karen Schloemer and her husband Dave of Mason City, and Bill Maginnis and his wife Jodi of Mason City; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister Bernadine Sebastiannelli and her husband Nino of California. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister.
