Mary L. Hobbs

December 23, 1929 — May 25, 2008

Mary L. Hobbs, 78, of Mason City, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.  Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday (May 30, 2008) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, with the Pastor Tom Healey, Hospice of North Iowa Chaplain officiating.  Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, for both Mary and her late husband Clarence. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa or the Mary L. Hobbs memorial fund.
 
Mary L. Hobbs was born December 23, 1929 in Mason City, the daughter of Verl and Grace (Stoltenberg) Welsh.  She attended and graduated from Mason City Schools. She was married to Clarence Hobbs on September 29, 1946 in Mason City.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge on the computer for hours, and she also loved animals and pets.  She also loved playing her favorite card game, Spike Malice and games could last for hours. After living in the country for many years, she was blessed with wonderful neighbors after she moved into town. They all became such good friends, especially her neighbor, Mary Hagedorn, who was always a phone call away.  She enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
 
She is survived by her two children, Dennis Hobbs and wife Diana; and Sue Johnson; grandchildren, Brian Isch, B. Jay Johnson, Debbie Overland and her husband Brian, Mindy Hanson and husband Tim, and Steven Hobbs and wife Rachelle.  She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Proscovec and husband Jack; half sister, Gwen Martin and husband Sam; several nieces and nephews; and also life long friends, Lois Dougan and family.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Clarence; brother, Richard Welsh; and sister-in-law Carol Brogmus

Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa or the Mary L. Hobbs memorial fund.
