Mary Jo Bublitz, 71, of 34 Stony Way, died Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice of North Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 Monday (June 26, 2006) at St. James Lutheran Church 1148-4th St. S.E. with Pastor Paul Nelson officiating. Interment will be Evergreen Cemetery in Britt, IA. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be sent to St. James Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Mary Jo was born on July 27, 1934 in Sheffield, IA the daughter of William and Beatrice (Storck) Olson. Mary Jo was baptized on September 16, 1934 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed on March 21, 1948 at First Lutheran Church, Britt, Ia. When she was 4 years old, her parents operated a well known grocery store in Hutchins, IA. She picked up the trait of loving people from being around all the customers during this time; she carried out this love the rest of her life. She enjoyed visiting relatives, neighbors, friends and calling people on the phone. When at Britt High School, she played saxophone and enjoyed music, choir and loved to sing. She and her mother took up the hobby of ceramics as she valued making things. After graduating in May of 1951, she went to Hamilton Business College for two years. She worked as a telephone operator at Garner, Ia, and a sondex machine operator at the Park Clinic. She also worked at Carleton Stewart Music Co. and Good Shepherd as a phone operator. Her parents had a business in Columbus Junction, IA, Missouri Valley, IA and Worthington, MN. She loved to help them in their business. She took on the job of Cub Scout leader as well. She was active in church, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Bible School and was the Sunday school superintendent and was active in her circle. She loved the Lord. She married Roger Bublitz on September 9, 1962 at St. James Lutheran Church by Pastor Donald Loots. She was preceded in death by her parents, six aunts and five uncles. She is survived by her husband, one son, Dan and wife Angie of Nora Springs, Ia., three grandsons, Cody, Carter and Spencer, one granddaughter, Taylor and many cousins. She will be sorely missed by her husband, family, relatives and friends. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.(641)-423-0924
