Martha B. Morris, 79, of 1449 2nd St. SE, died Tuesday (January 11, 2005) at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held 1:30 PM Friday in the Wayside Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles and Rev. Jo Frahm-Watkins officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church. Martha was born November 11, 1925 in Mason City the daughter of James C. ?Jack? and Laura (Ford) Burkhart. Martha was a long time resident of Mason City. She is a graduate of Mason City High School class of 1943. After graduating, she worked for MA Bell. She was then employed by the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army as a civilian and worked for Ogilvy Bakery. She lived in Washington DC, North Carolina and Germany. She stayed home to care for her two daughters. Martha also worked for Alco Discount Store until 1981. Her most recent employment was at Job Service, helping older adults obtain employment. She retired in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, music and working puzzle books. Martha is survived by her two daughters; Jeanne Morris of Mason City, Connie Thornbury of Agoura Hills, CA; 1 sister, 2 grand dogs, nieces and nephews. Martha?s parents, husband, Donald and a sister preceded her in death.
