Marlene A. Arends

March 3, 1936 — May 15, 2008

Mason City:  Marlene A. Arends, 72, of Mason City, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, West Campus.  Memorial services will be held at 10:30AM Monday (May 19, 2008) at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church and Rev. Craig Pinley of First Covenant Church officiating.  A gathering of friends and family will be from 5PM 7PM on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Marlene Arends memorial fund.
 
Marlene was born March 3, 1936 in Mason City, the daughter of Francis and Thelma (Dahl) Pietersen.   She graduated from Mason City High School in 1954 and attended Mason City Jr. College.  She was married to Henry Arends on June 8, 1957 in Mason City.  She had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.  She also enjoyed reading, garage sales, and planning class reunions.
 
She was survived by her husband Henry of Mason City; her children:  Deb Ward and husband Paul of Plymouth, IA and Russell and Lori Arends of Clear Lake; four grandchildren:  Luke and Ashley Ward and Leah and Caitlin Arends; two step grand children:  Jason and Rachel; one step great grandchild: Gage; two brothers:  William Pietersen of Lakeville, MN and Robert Pietersen and wife Barbara of Champlin, MN;  step-mother:  Marsha Pietersen of Manly, IA.  She is also survived by many life long friends. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister in infancy and a sister-in-law:  Judy Pietersen.

Memorials may be directed to the Marlene Arends memorial fund.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 5PM - 7PM on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home.
