Marjorie L. Manning, 82, of 33 N. Willowgreen Court, died Monday (March 7, 2005) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. James Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. The casket will be closed. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Marjorie was born December 17, 1922 in Webster City, Iowa the daughter of Marius and Karren Anderson. She received her education at Stanhope, Iowa then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Wartburg College in Waverly and graduated in Early Childhood Education from Drake University, Des Moines. She taught kindergarten in West Bend, Mason City, Charles City and second grade in Ames. Marjorie taught school for 35 years. She retired in 1983 from Lincoln Elementary in Charles City. Marjorie married Thomas E. ?Gene? Manning June 8, 1947 in Stanhope. To this union a daughter, Cynthia, was born. The Manning?s moved to Mason City in 1982. Marjorie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Trinity Church Women and Trinity Church Choir for 17 years. She was a member of PEO Chapter IY and past board member of KCMR. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and lifetime member of I.S.E.A. Marjorie enjoyed traveling with her family in Mexico, Norway, Europe, Hawaii and the United States. She also enjoyed baking, golfing, biking and helping raise her grandson, Evan. She is survived by her husband, Gene Manning; daughter, Cynthia Zach and husband James; grandson, Evan Zach all of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys Lawson.
