Marjorie B. Sorbo

Marjorie Berdine (Olson) Sorbo, of Mason City, IA, departed this world on August 21, 2003 at Heritage Care Center in Mason City. She was born June 16, 1923 in Rome Township, Faribault County, MN. Her parents were John B. and Anna (Johnson) Olson. Marjorie was baptized and confirmed at South Blue Earth Lutheran Church, Bricelyn, MN. On Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948 at the South Blue Earth Lutheran Church, Marjorie was united in marriage to Norlan J. Sorbo in a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister Margaret B. Olson. Three children were born to this union, David Keith, LeAnn Marie, and John Norlan. She enjoyed baking for her family and pursued cooking as a career. At one time she did custom baking. She also was employed by Allied Mills, Easter?s Super Value Bakery, and AMPI Creamery, all in Mason City in food service. Also at one time she worked at Mode-O-Day in Mason City. Marjorie enjoyed sewing quilts, crocheting and was the author of her own cookbook ?Grandma Sorbo?s Cookbook.? She enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Norlan J. Sorbo, Mason City, IA; her children David and wife Sandie Sorbo, Clinton, MO; LeAnn (Sorbo) Weaver and husband Charles Weaver Sr., Mason City; John and wife Charlene Sorbo, Holmen, WI; her eight grandchildren Troy Sorbo, Kansas City, MO; Dawn (Sorbo) Higgins and husband Casey, Deepwater, MO; Charles Weaver, JR., Ames, IA; Chad Weaver, Mason City, IA; Jamie (Sorbo) Miller and husband Jamin Miller, Galesville, WI; Jennifer Sorbo, Rochester, MN; Jonna and Jacqueline Sorbo, Holmen, WI; and the twinkle in her eye, great-granddaughter Kalista Miller, Galesville, WI. She is also survived by her twin sister Mrs. Margaret Larson and husband Lloyd and a brother Donald Olson and wife Valores all of Bricelyn, MN, along with many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jeffery Olson, a brother in infancy, and a sister Ruby Rienstra. Those wishing to give tribute in Marjorie?s memory may direct memorials to Parkinson?s Disease Foundation or to a charity of the giver?s choice. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. The family will receive those wishing to express condolences at the funeral home Friday, August 29th, from 7:00 until 8:30 PM. Interment will be at a later date.
