Marilyn M. Schmidt

Marilyn M. Schmidt, 82, of Mason City, IA, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2015, at St. James Lutheran Church Chapel, 1148 4th Street S.E., with Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and continue one hour prior to the church service. Interment will take place at 2:30 PM on Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Titonka, IA with Rev. S. Kim Peterson of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Marilyn Schmidt memorial fund in care of the family. Marilyn was born May 31, 1932, in Mason City, the daughter of Alden J. H. and Marie (Tobsing) George. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1950, and continued her education at Business School in Minneapolis, MN. On February 10, 1952, she married Ernest H. Schmidt in Mason City. She worked in Sales for Sam Raizes Department Store and later Sears for 20 years before her retirement. Marilyn was a member of St. James Lutheran Church where she belonged to church circle. She also taught Sunday School in rural Titonka. Marilyn was a dog lover and enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marilyn is survived by 2 daughters: Judy Spear of Woden, IA and Tammy Millard and husband Brian of Mason City; 2 grandchildren: Amy Luedke and husband Scott of Charlotte, NC and Brandon Millard and wife Molly of Eden Prairie, MN; and 2 great grandchildren: Avery and Tatum Luedke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2007; 1 daughter: Debra Schmidt; and son-in-law: Roger Spear.
