Marian L. Wass, 84, of Iowa City, Iowa died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 20th at Trinity Lutheran Church 213 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30-7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City IA 52240.
Marian was born April 5, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Roy S. and Ethel T. Weber. The family moved to Mason City in 1940 and Marian graduated from Mason City High School in 1942. She married Robert C. Wass in 1945. They were stationed in Texas and Florida until his discharge from U.S. Army Air Force. She was a mother and homemaker and a long time active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved with several organizations. She was a member of PEO Chapter KW, and an avid bridge player and a regular at the YWCA where she enjoyed swimming and volleyball. The family would like to thank the staff at Emerson Point and Iowa City Hospice for the loving care given to Marian. She is survived by two sons, John R. Wass and his wife, Catherine, of Suffolk, VA., and James M. Wass and his wife, Diane, of Tiffin, and one daughter, Jean A. Sheeley and her husband, Bryan, of Coralville; and two granddaughters, Sarah K. Killion and her husband, Jeremy of Coralville, and Samantha L. Sheeley of Emporia, KS; and one great grandson, Cayne L. Killion of Coralville; brother, Donald (Doris) Weber of Mason City; 1 niece and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1996; her parents Roy S. and Ethel T. Weber and infant son in 1951.
