Lynn A. Lunning

MASON CITY: Lynn Lunning, 66, of Mason City, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Chaplain Ed Bard Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Lynn Lunning memorial fund.

Lynn was born October 1, 1942 in Darlington, WI, the son of Virgil and Anola (Helland) Lunning. He attended school in Belmond, Crystal Lake and Hansell. Lynn lettered in both track and basketball. He was married to Connie Clements on November 25, 1961 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Mason City. He worked for Vi-Cor for 30 years before retiring in 2005. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed golfing with his children, teasing and playing with his grandchildren, playing pool league at the Sidewinder, and playing with his dogs. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, watching sports, coaching baseball, and telling jokes to his many friends. .

He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Connie Lunning; his children: Marc Lunning and wife Jennifer of Mason City, Michael Lunning and wife Hillary of Mason City; Danny Lunning and wife Connie of Mt. Pleasant; and Tammy Wright of Mason City; his mother: Anola Lunning of Mason City; his grandchildren: Nicholas Wright and special friend Erica, Jennifer Wright and special friend Brent, Andrea, Lauren, Thea, Emily, and Sophie Lunning. 4 brothers: Verdell Lunning, Jerry Lunning and wife Mona, Roger Lunning and wife Linda, all of Forest City, and Darrell Lunning and wife Wanda of Austin, MN; 2 sisters: Debbie Loge and husband Scott, and Denise Rogers and husband Doug, both of Forest City; his mother and father-in-law: Earl and Phyllis Morris of Mason City. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his father Virgil, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
