Lydia E. Carter, 78, of 236 14th St. SE, died Sunday (May 11, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Willowbrook Drive, with Rev. Terry Hamilton-Poore officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to the Lydia E. Carter Memorial Fund. Lydia was born July 17, 1924 in Minnesota the daughter of Jacob and Katie Dietz. She married Dick Carter June 7, 1948 at First Presbyterian Church in Mason City. Lydia taught ceramic classes from her home for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was actively involved in the YWCA, Senior Citizens Center, Lime Creek Nature Center, North Iowa Fair and Community Kitchen. Lydia is survived by her husband; Dale Richard Carter of Mason City, 2 sons; Rick Carter of Yakutat, Alaska, Mike Carter of Mason City, 4 grandchildren; Zachory & Jessica Carter of Petersburg, Alaska, Michael Carter of Mason City and Ashley Carter of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers and sisters.
