Loy was born April 13, 1933 in Osage, Iowa, (minutes after his twin brother Roy). His parents were Harold R. and Pearl (Naber) Pike. He graduated from Osage High School, then went to work for Armour for 32 years. He also owned and ran Pikes Maid Rite with his wife and kids, before retiring in 1985. \r\n
\r\n
Loy married Clara (Pat) Prohaski and together they raised their four children. \r\n
Loy enjoyed taking his family on long summer vacations in their camper, giving his children the opportunity to visit almost every state in the United States. Sitting around the campfire with the Prohaski families making smores and singing songs late into the night at Yellow River Forest was an important weekend activity. He enjoyed the holidays when all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gathered for a day of family togetherness. Loy also enjoyed fishing trips up North with his son and friends. \r\n
\r\n
When Parkinsons disease was finally able to slow him down he began playing cards and putting puzzles together with his many friends at Good Shepherd. It was not unusual for Loy to sneak off on his scooter for a cruise around town, enjoying his freedom!\r\n
\r\n
Loy was a positive man, despite what Parkinsons had done to his body and he never missed a chance to joke around with the nurses and staff at Good Shepherd. \r\n
\r\n
Loy is survived by his children: Lois Awe and husband Allen of Mason City; Deb Walkner of Mason City; James Pike and wife Cindy of Plymouth, IA; Diana Padilla and husband Hermeregildo of Clear Lake; 9 grandchildren: Jennifer, Brandi, Clair, A. Noble, Joshua (Rebecca), Gabriel, Denver (Angie), Drew and Darcie (Eusebio); 11 great grandchildren: Jarrod, Lucas, Alea, Miracle, Brian, Orion, Angel, Adan, Alena, Trevor and Jacob; 3 brothers: Dean Pike and wife Anna of Houston, TX, his twin brother Roy Pike and wife Shirley of Marion, IA, Paul Pike and wife Emily of Ocala, FL; 3 sisters: Sharon Uhlenhopp and husband Lynn of Cedar Falls, IA, Patsy Crowe and husband John of Vancouver, Canada, and Shannon Miller and husband Tom of Ocala, FL.\r\n
\r\n
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother: Darrell Pike.
