MASON CITY Louis A. Schneider, 64, of Mason City, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. on Friday (September 18, 2009) at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania, with Pastor Steve Hansen officiating. Private family inurnment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday (September 17, 2009) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa, American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Louis Andrew Schneider was born on January 1, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Della (Gauley) Schneider, together they had three sons, John, Lou, and David. He attended school in Davenport, IA and graduated from Davenport West High School in 1962. He then attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Iowa and graduated from Buena Vista University with a degree in business management. He was married to Joan Elaine Lubitz on August 13, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman, MN. To this union two children were born, Jeff and Lisa.
Lous greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren; cooking for them, golfing with them, and watching them play sports. He also enjoyed spending time at a family cabin in Minnesota and also was an active member of his church, Wesley United Methodist.
Lou is survived by his wife, Joan of Mason City; son, Jeff Schneider and wife Mindy; daughter, Lisa Als and husband Kelly; grandchildren, Marissa and Matthew Schneider, Gavin and Ella Als; brother, David Schneider and wife Peggy; niece, Suzanne Roush and husband Tom; mother-in-law, Eleanor Lubitz; brother and sister-in-laws; Ken Lubitz and wife Rosanne and Cindy Klocker and husband Denny.
He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, John Schneider, and his father-in-law, LaVern Lubitz.
