MASON CITY Lorraine K. Lovejoy, 77, of Mason City, died Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M.. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia, with the Rev. Jim Stiles and Pastor Kent Mechler officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Monday, January 3, 2011 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Lorraine K. Lovejoy memorial fund in care of the family or the First United Methodist Church. Lorraine was born January 14, 1933 in Tripoli, Iowa, the daughter of Myron and Minifred (Barr) Chapin. She attended school in Tripoli and graduated from Tripoli High School. She was married to Garth E. Lovejoy on September 23, 1952 in Lawton, OK and to this union three sons were born. She was an Avon Sales Representative for seventeen years. Lorraine was very active in scouting through the years with her boys and husband Garth, and she received the Silver Fawn a very prestigious award in the Scouts organization. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in her church circle, mission committees. Lorraine enjoyed traveling out west, camping with her family, taking walks, and listening to all types of music. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Garth E. Lovejoy of Mason City; children, Douglas Lovejoy and wife Karen of Cedar Falls, Jay Lovejoy of Mason City, and Kevin Lovejoy and wife Sara of Manly, Iowa; grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Jordan, Daniel, Erika and Nathan; one great-grandchild, Parker; sisters, LaVera Benzine of Janesville, IA; Beth Lovejoy of Waverly, IA brother, Robert Chapin and wife Mary Lee of Tripoli, IA; sister-in-law, Marilyn Chapin of Dickinson, TX and brother-in-law, Lloyd Mallie of Mt. Vernon, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Winifred Moehlis and Doris Mallie; brother, John; and granddaughter, Kathlyn; brothers-in-law, Marvin Benzine, Keith Lovejoy, and Les Moehlis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Good Shepherd Care Center for all their compassion and wonderful care.

Memorials may be directed to the Lorraine K. Lovejoy memorial fund in care of the family or the First United Methodist Church.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.
