Linda Rippentrop, 69, of Mason City, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania, Mason City, with Pastor Steve Hansen officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the Linda Rippentrop Memorial Care fund. Linda was born February 8, 1945 in Fort Dodge to George and Gladys (Alexander) Detmering. She grew up on a farm near Wesley, IA and attended school at Corwith-Wesley before going to college at University of Northern Iowa. After college, she moved to Mason City and lived with her 2 sisters. She worked as a para for Mason City schools, AC Nielson Co., Curtis 1000, the Girl Scouts Office, Hy-Vee Floral, and Mason City Business Systems. She retired in the spring of 2013. She married Ronald Rippentrop in July of 1973 and made their home at Gracious Estates with Shelley, Greg and Heidi, then moved to Crestmore Way where they became very special friends to their entire neighborhood. She enjoyed reading, cooking, canning, spending time with her family and her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Shelley Huebner (Dan Solum) of Mason City, sons: Christopher and Jamie Huebner, and Nick and Zach Solum; Heidi Rippentrop (Damon Torres)and son, Matt Burt of Mason City; son Greg Rippentrop and son Caleb of Austin, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Landon, Aurora, and Maylee; sisters: Vicki (Jerry) Als of Mason City and Kathy Tresemer of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Ronald on October 17, 2012; one granddaughter, Erica Huebner; and brother-in-law, Dan Tresemer.

Memorials may be directed to the Linda Rippentrop Memorial Care fund.
