She was united in marriage to LaVern Tolzman in Charles City, IA. They made their home in Mason City for about thirty one years. They purchased an acreage on Highway 65 South and ran a small country caf, where Lillian, along with her sister in-law, cooked and baked all homemade food. In 1962, Lillian and Vern purchased the Claybanks farm near Nora Springs. Lillian enjoyed helping with raising the animals, gardening, flowers, and they were members of the saddle club and enjoyed riding horses on the trails. Lillian was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She also did ceramics for many years and the past fifteen years, enjoyed taking painting lessons and did many beautiful landscape pictures. After Verns tractor accident, they bought a motor home and traveled for many years. During a stay in North Dakota, they worked for the Corp of Engineers collecting gate admission, and in the off season they continued to travel. While traveling Arkansas, they camped at the Waveland campgrounds and ended up collecting gate admission for two years. Vern found 3 acres of bare ground that they purchased and put up a home.
