Lillian ?Lily? Pitkin, 85, of Mason City, died Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the USA Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Saturday September 30, 2006 at the Faith Baptist Church, 1807 South Kentucky with Rev. Miles Grismore officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be given to the Faith Baptist Church. Lillian was born on January 17, 1921 in Canton, South Dakota to Axel and Jorgine (Stølen) Soderberg. She lived in Canton, South Dakota for 5 years and then lived in the Beloit Children?s Home in Beloit, Iowa for 10 years. In 1936, Lillian was given a home with Albert and Tillie Johnson of Woden, Iowa and lived with the Johnson?s until February 18, 1940. On that day, Lillian married Dale Howard Pitkin of Miller, Iowa. They began a family north of Forest City, Iowa and in 1941 they moved to Miller, Iowa to farm until 1958. In 1958 they bought their last farm south of Mason City and lived there until retirement in 1988. They moved to Mason City in 1988 and lived there until 2006. Lillian was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Forest City, Iowa, Grace Baptist Church, Mason City, Iowa, and Faith Baptist Church in Mason City. Lillian is survived by children; Ronald Pitkin and wife Julie of Nashville, Tennessee, Lowell Pitkin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Barbara Connolly and husband Steve of Chicago, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister Norma Thuestad and husband Bud of Rochelle, Illinois. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, husband Dale Howard Pitkin, and daughter-in-law Karin Pitkin. Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory.
