Leroy F. Slim" Smith

Leroy F. ?Slim? Smith, 83, of 748 17th St. NE, died Monday (January 3, 2005) at Willow Pointe Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles, First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Leroy F. Smith Memorial Fund. Leroy was born May 5, 1921 in rural Bradford, Iowa the son of Franklin C. and Gertie B. (Smith) Smith. He graduated from West Fork #5. Leroy moved to Mason City in 1945. He married Betty L. Pusch December 12, 1954. Leroy worked as an automobile mechanic for Zenor Motors and Blinder Olds Honda for 40 years. He retired in 1985. Leroy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Highland Golf Course and enjoyed bowling for over 40 years. Leroy is survived by a special friend; Bernice I. Carmody of Mason City, step-children; Mary Borrill and husband Ken of Clear Lake, Sharon Carmody of Mason City, Denny Carmody and wife Mary of Clear Lake, Pastor Mike Carmody and wife Janis of Fort Dodge, sister-in-law; Ednabelle Smith of Sheffield, several nieces and nephews. Leroy?s parents, wife; Betty, brothers; Howard, Walter and Boyd, sisters; Margaret, Phyllis and Genevieve preceded him in death.
