Leonard A. Wicks

Leonard A. Wicks, 80, of 1153 Eastmoor Drive, died Friday (May 28, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday at the First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams, with Rev. Bill Poland officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Leonard A. Wicks Memorial Fund. Leonard was born August 16, 1923 in Slater, Iowa the son of Walter Raymond and Amelia Florence (Harrison) Wicks. He graduated from Washington Township Consolidated High School then Drake University College of Pharmacy. Leonard served in the US Navy during WW II. He married Betty E. Johnson September 16, 1950 in Des Moines. Leonard was a self-employed Pharmacist for 34 years in Mason City retiring in 1987. He was a long time and active member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Iowa Pharmacists Association, past president, American Pharmaceutical Association, Regional Medical Board, Board of Health of Mason City, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, past president and a former member of the I.O.O.F. Leonard loved his church, family, golfing, and fishing. Leonard is survived by his wife, Betty E. Wicks of Mason City; daughter, Judy Alman and husband Scott of Mason City; son, Jon Wicks and wife Mary of Mason City; grandchildren, Jill Alman, Benjamin L. Wicks, Jenna Alman, Andrea Wicks and Tyler Wicks; great granddaughter, Grace Wicks; brother, Harry Wicks of Encinitas, CA; sister, Beulah Nichols and husband Marion of Fremont, NE, many nieces and nephews. Leonard?s parents, brothers, Verle, Arthur, Harold and Clifford precede him in death.
