Leoda H. Tschetter

April 18, 1913 — March 31, 2012

Loeda Tschetter, of Mason City, departed for her heavenly home at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the age of 98 years, 11 months, and 13 days. A private family graveside service will be at the Bridgewater Cemetery in Bridgewater, SD, with Rev. Marvin Engbrecht officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Leoda Tschetter memorial fund, in care of the family. Leoda was born April 18, 1913, in Turner County, South Dakota, the daughter of Ludwig J. and Lena (Kaufman) Miller. At an early age she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and continued this life of full surrender until her death. She was a real prayer warrior for her family, a Godly example and interested in giving money to missions. She loved reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She attended rural country school. She also attended both High School and College at Faith Home Bible School at Mitchell, SD. On June 24, 1931, she was united in marriage to Rev. Edward S. Tschetter in Marion, SD. They shared the joys and sorrows of life together for 45 years. She was very supportive of sharing in her husband’s ministry in South Dakota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa. One of the wonderful examples of love and compassion was when they opened their home as foster parents to children from the Annie Wittenmeyer Home in Davenport, IA. It was a very rewarding experience for them. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City. She enjoyed gardening (flowers), painting, leather working, and handwork. She is survived by her daughter: Velmaline Ann Tschetter of Mason City; grandchildren: Layton Taylor, Shane (Mark) Dayton, Velena (Sabeno) Mulato, and Vanette Taylor; great grandchildren: Jada, Elise, Caleb, Darion, Lucia, and Chase; nephews: Desmond Miller and Jon Miller; sisters-in-law: Martha Walter and Anne (Marvin) Engbrecht. She is also survived by a host of relatives and friends. Those preceding her in death are her parents, her husband: Rev. Edward Tschetter in 1977, son: Edward Lewis Tschetter; brother: Claude Miller; sister: Deloris Miller. Until we again are reunited in glory the influence of her Godly life and witness will never be forgotten.
