Lee R. Freeman, 78 formerly of 1209 West State, died May 18, 2003 at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, June 1st at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 ? 1st St. N.E. with the Rev. Samuel Hamilton-Poore officiating. There will be no visitation as his wish was cremation. Memorial may be given to the Alzheimer?s Association in his memory. Lee was born August 24, 1924 in Amarillo, TX the son of Corbett E. and Gladys (Robertson) Freeman. Lee graduated from Pacific University. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 1942 to July 1949 having served in the South Pacific, New Zealand, New Caledonia and received the WW II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, American Defense Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. Lee worked as a manager for IBM, in San Jose, CA, Stockton, CA and Niwot, CO for twenty-seven years retiring in 1982. He was married to Ann Winter Johnson Ray on December 15, 1988 in Mason City. They moved back to Mason City in 1989. Lee was a member of the First Congregation United Church of Christ and was a life member of the VFW. Survived by his wife Ann W. Freeman, Mason City Daughter ? Ian Hunter, Wilton, New Hampshire Numerous Great Grandchildren Sister ? Wanda Richison, Stockton, CA Brother ? Lowell Pettite, Stockton, CA Preceded in death by his parents, l Brother, l Sister and a son Scott Freeman in Jan 2003.
